In the late-1990s, Republic Property Group purchased more than 1,700 acres of land in Denton County. This land purchase was followed by a brainstorming of sorts among highly qualified real estate development professionals. Their goal was to create a new and different take on the master-planned, golf course community concept. The result is Lantana. Construction began in 2000 and residents began moving in just more than a year later. In 2002, the first elementary school and the golf club were opened to the public. Since then, the community's development has been ongoing, with the addition of pools, community centers and school campuses.

Lantana architecture recognizes Hill Country's German heritage with low rock walls around the community, stone accents on the homes, and two windmills which have become Lantana landmarks. One of these was found on the property before construction began; it was originally built in the 1930s. The other, placed in 2002, is located at the community's main entrance.

Lantana is organized into neighborhoods, each of which has a distinctive personality and range of home prices. Given the wide selection, whether you are an established buyer or looking for your first home, you shouldn't have trouble finding the right Lantana home. All of the builders involved in the community's development are experienced and well-regarded in the Dallas and Fort Worth housing markets.

Outside of Lantana, you'll find it's just a short drive to business corridors and high-end shopping plus sports, arts and educational venues. The Dallas Fort Worth Metroplex has almost limitless opportunities for fun, culture, education and employment. Museums and performing arts organizations abound, as do shopping centers and dining and entertainment districts. There are local sports teams competing in the NFL, NBA, MLB and NHL. In terms of the local economy, Dallas has an unusually high concentration of corporate headquarters. This bodes well for job seekers, as there are opportunities available in a variety of industries.
